Made for Quail Valley’s Nightmare on Candy Cane Lane, our caramel apples are a limited-edition Halloween treat made with organic Granny Smith apples and our house-made caramel. Each order includes a large classic caramel apple for $8.
The Quail Valley Bakery Difference
We use organic Granny Smith apples. Non-organic apples are often treated with food-grade wax coatings after harvest. These coatings can interfere with caramel adhesion, causing it to slide off the apple. We choose organic Granny Smith apples without these added wax coatings for better caramel adhesion, a crisp bite, and the tart flavor that balances our sweet, buttery caramel.
We carefully prepare every apple before dipping. We thoroughly clean the apples to remove surface residue and chill them before dipping. Proper surface preparation helps the caramel adhere to the apple.
We cook our caramel to exactly 250°F. Precise temperature control helps us achieve the consistency we want: a coating that adheres to the apple while remaining soft and chewy, rather than hard or brittle.

Premium ingredients at an accessible price. A Sugar Land confectionery charges $39.99 for four classic caramel apples, or approximately $10 per apple. Our classic caramel apples are just $8 each. While both use Granny Smith apples, the other confectionery's published ingredient listing does not state the apples are organic. Its caramel ingredients also include cream powder, palm oil, soy lecithin, and artificial flavor. So, you get a lower price and premium ingredients right here in Quail Valley.
Our caramel is made from scratch with just six ingredients. We make every batch in-house using Kerrygold Pure Irish Butter, organic heavy whipping cream, organic brown cane sugar, organic pure vanilla extract, salt, and light corn syrup. We never use premade caramel or packaged caramel coatings.
